The pre-terminated system eliminates fusion points in the entire link and is plug-and-play. The operator simply pulls the pre-terminated backbone cable from the weak well to the target weak room. To protect the pre-terminated connectors, specially designed protective sleeves are provided at the connectors of the backbone cable to avoid damage to the connectors during the dragging process, which can cause excessive cable insertion loss. In addition, the backbone branch section is designed with a brancher structure that can be installed in the branch fixing piece in the splitter box to anchor the entire backbone fibre optic cable in the box, as shown below.

1 Background Description
Due to the clouding of business, bringing a substantial increase in north-south data applications, while the convergence and innovation of business and the flood of data brought by the awareness of everything, the new business generated by the deep integration of various industries are giving rise to new changes in the existing campus bearer network.
The inherent disadvantages of the traditional LAN in the new business model are becoming more and more obvious, such as poor stability of network performance, complex network structure, large space occupation, maintenance difficulties, short coverage distance, etc. In the face of the above problems, the current new LAN networking solution based on PON technology, namely the all-optical LAN (POL, Passive Optical LAN) mode, can well meet the various challenges brought about by new services.
2 POL Network to the Challenges of Cabling
The POL network structure is a standard tree structure, and the deployment method is relatively flexible. In order to fully highlight its high bandwidth and multi-service bearing capacity, the optical fibre is usually deployed to the desktop or near the desktop as far as possible; and compared to traditional network cabling construction, such deployment will bring some challenges, mainly in the following two points:
2.1 Change of Construction Object
Unlike traditional networks, POL network backbone, horizontal and even work area cables are all optical cables, optical cable laying and splicing methods and traditional copper cables have major differences, especially optical cable stripping and fusion splicing often require professional construction technicians. These changes bring difficulties and adjustments to traditional construction.
2.2 ONU Deployment
Most programs will use the near desktop end of the deployment of access devices ONU, and such a deployment will cause a large number of bright lines exist on the desktop end, affecting the neat and beautiful user work area, and inconvenient to use.
3 The POL Cabling Solution
In response to the challenges posed by the new network deployment and construction solutions, the innovative POL pre-terminated solutions, not only targeted solutions, while also retaining the inherent characteristics of all-optical networks, such as saving space in the server room and the line slot, long-distance coverage, easy maintenance, etc..
A building scenario, divided into three functional partitions, i.e. stand-alone office internet access, open office internet access, in-building wireless coverage and monitoring. The splitters are centrally deployed in the server room, with the vertical trunk leading from the server room to pre-terminated distribution box on each floor, and then pre-terminated horizontal cables leading from the pre-terminated splitter boxes to the ONU.
The system mainly consists of pre-terminated distribution frames, pre-terminated trunks, pre-terminated splitter boxes and pre-terminated horizontal cables.
Pre-terminated distribution frame and pre-terminated splitter box with pre-terminated trunk connected, pre-terminated box can lead to pre-terminated horizontal cable, horizontal cable directly into the ONU.
The backbone part of the pre-terminated using MPO multi-core connector, horizontal cable pre-terminated using SC movable connector. The nodes where the trunk cable and the horizontal cable are connected are transferred using a modular box built into the splitter box.
The use of splitters avoids lateral pressure on the backbone cable when it is fixed, ensuring that the optical fibres are in their original state in the cable casing, thus avoiding optical loss due to external forces. The backbone cable can be run in 5m, 10m and 15m increments, with the excess length left in the pre-terminated distribution box after construction.
The horizontal cable can be customised in length, with standard SC/UPC connectors at one end and detachable connectors at the other. As many horizontal cables are laid through pipes, the detachable connector at one end of the pre-terminated horizontal cable is small (approx. 5.8 mm diameter) and can be threaded directly into the PVC pipe.
4 Summary
The pre-terminated system eliminates the need for fusion splicing of trunk and horizontal cables ; it also shortens the construction time of cable deployment, and its fast construction features ensure that cable expansion and maintenance are faster and more convenient compared to traditional cabling methods, thus greatly enhancing construction efficiency.
It should also be noted that the pre-terminated system is a fixed length of all the cables, which requires the approximate length of the cables to be measured before construction, otherwise it may result in waste of cables or insufficient use of the situation.
Finally, POL pre-terminated system in the field of building cabling is a new thing, the market for its widespread recognition and application will be a gradual process, but pre-terminated system in the data centre industry has been a mature application for many years, we believe that eventually POL pre-terminated system will be recognized by the majority of customers, providing a new choice for customers.
